Almond Croissants

Almond Croissants

Nothing beats the aroma of these simple almond croissants straight out of the oven!

Ingredients:
6 regular size store bought croissants, sliced in half (preferably a day or two old)

For the filling:

  • 6 tablespoons of Almond flour

  • 3 tablespoon sugar

  • 3 tablespoon milk

  • ½ teaspoon almond extract

  • Mix well into a smooth paste and set aside.

For the syrup:

  • ½ cup water

  • ¼ cup sugar

Mix the two ingredients in a sauce pan. Keep stirring and remove from heat as soon as water starts boiling. Let it cool until warm to the touch.

For the Garnish:
½ cup sliced almonds
Confectioners/Powder Sugar [optional]

Preheat the oven at 350-degree F.

Assemble the croissants:
Spray a baking sheet.
Take the bottom piece of each croissant and brush the bottom that is touching the tray with the syrup and set it in the baking tray.
Now take a heaped tablespoon of the filling mixture and spread it evenly on each croissant that is sitting in the baking tray. Put the top half of the croissant back on. Now brush it generously with the syrup (making them almost moist) and garnish each top with the sliced almonds.

Bake in the oven for 20-25mins till the croissants are crisp on the outside and the almond slices are golden color. Remove from the oven. Cool for 10 mins. Dust with powder sugar and serve!
